HORSES

Approximately 14 horses, trained for use in teaching, are stabled at EquiPoint. Each camper is matched with a “project horse” to care for during the one-week session.

DAILY PROGRAM

Campers usually ride once, daily: a riding lesson in the morning or “fun” activity,” trail ride, or games. For mounted lessons, campers are grouped by age. Other activities that round out the day include “theory lessons” to teach campers about the care and handling of horses, crafts, and games.

LUNCH

Campers bring their personal lunch (refrigeration is available). There is a covered picnic area.

TRANSPORTATION

Parents are responsible for arranging transportation to and from camp. Many find it convenient to form carpools. Campers should arrive between 8:45 and 9:00 a.m. each morning. Please notify the instructor if the camper will be absent or late. Pick-up time is 1:00 p.m.

CAMP CURRICULUM

Staff members teach the campers good, basic – and safe – horsemanship. Besides learning to ride, campers learn to:

  • Understand the nature of the horse and how to work with it

  • Act responsibly in caring for the horse and its equipment

  • Practice safety measures on and around horses

Campers gain a solid foundation in the riding basics essential to having a safe and enjoyable time on horseback.
